Hi dear managers,

My laptop model is :

Product: HP Pavilion dv6-6190se
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
Bios Version : Hewlett-Packard F.1B 2011/10/5

i did something wrog about this laptop.
I reformat it's hard from GPT to MBR & Installed windows 7 again on it.
Now it is some bit slower and i lost UEFI boot.
I bought a new ssd hard i want to revert back to GPT and install new windows 11
Problem is in BIOS there is no option to define GPT bios.
Also "System Information" does n't show BIOS Mode.
I do n't know after install windows 11can it find related drivers or not?
Or can i install all drivers for win 7 in win 11or not?

Please review my questions and guide me about them.

Hi:

You can't do an in-place upgrade from W7 to W11.

You can only do a free upgrade from W7>W10 and then from W10>W11 and since your notebook does not meet any of the hardware requirements to install W11, you would have to use one of the W11 hardware check bypass methods to install W11.

Your notebook's AMD/Intel switchable graphics adapters will not work correctly in W10 or W11.

There is only switchable graphics driver support for your notebook up to Windows 8, if you use the AMD graphics driver from the dv6t-6c00 model.

I recommend you leave it on W7 and continue to use the notebook until you can buy a replacement.

Unfortunately, since I don't have your model notebook, I don't know what the BIOS settings are.

If you have a W7 ISO file, you can use the free Rufus utility to create a bootable USB flash drive to boot in GPT, and if your BIOS is UEFI-supported it should install W7 in UEFI mode.

Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way

I've installed W7 that way.

Thanks for the answer to my thread.

First of all help me fix bios issue.

Why it does not show BIOS Mode in System Information app?

Why there is no an option in BIOS for change BIOS mode?

I am certainly sure it is supporting UEFI because it's hard was GPT.

I have 3 windows 7,10,11 isos.

i can put graphic card on better graphic card > There is an option in BIOS for fixed graphic card.

But which one is better?

AMD or Intel?

After them should i install win 7 and upgrade to 10 and upgrade to 11?

Or can i install fresh win 11 directly?

Will this laptop allow install win 11 directly without any error?

I have an old pc and god bless Rufus > it fixed iso for old pcs and bypassed TPM and RAM and other limitation.

So can i install win 11 directly?

Thanks for watching this thread and help other people to be update.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with the BIOS problem.

The BIOS mode should be showing up in the system information app as either legacy or UEFI.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if setting the BIOS to its defaults, saving the settings and restarting the PC gets it to show up in the system info window.

If you have fixed switchable graphics, try disabling the Intel graphics adapter because the AMD one is more powerful.

If Windows installs a driver for the AMD GPU, then you should be all set.

Just remember that GPU will use more battery power and run hotter than the Intel one.

If you don't want that, then disable the AMD GPU in the BIOS and use the Intel one.

If you had previously upgraded to W10, you can clean install W11 with Rufus, but you need to use the old Rufus v3.18 file because anything newer has removed that great W11 bypass setting.

If you have never updated the PC to W10, then you need to install W7, take the free upgrade to W10 and then you can install W11.

To get the free upgrade to W10, the easiest thing to do would be to make a bootable USB installation flash drive with the media creation tool.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

After the flash drive has been created, don't boot from it.

Instead, open the drive in Windows Explorer, and double click to run the setup application to begin the upgrade process.
