Thanks a lot for the support, if it will really be of benefit as you write, I will buy it and I'll be happy to try it once I've got it up and running like this. Never before would I have thought that I would be digging around in laptops and even old ones.
Maybe I can get the RAM for $50 like you did back then. Well, I can't find the really cheaper ones anywhere, they were probably very little used, and there really aren't many of those offers overall. And these 800 MHz and 667 MHz RAMs are priced the same.

You're very welcome.
Yes, the cost of the two speeds are the same as I had also seen back in the day.
That's why I bought the PC2-6400 speed in case I ever got a notebook that still used DDR2-6400 memory but could run it at the full speed, and I ended up doing just that by buying a HP 6930p notebook that had a Pentium P8700 and the Intel PM45 chipset which ran DDR2 memory at 800 MHz.

Ah, I understand, Pentium P8700 - 1066 MHz, but RAM DDR2 only 800 MHz with this Chipset.
Does a pentium P.... exist that would be compatible with my model and at the same time better than the X9000? I'm not familiar with processors, so I don't even know what model series exist or how to look for it. But I assume they will be at a higher bus speed than my PM965 chipset uses.

Hello, I would also like to ask. I got my hands on one HDD SerialATA - Fujitsu, model: MHV2060BH - 60 GB, from one of the acquired laptops. This disk is not accepted by the bios or in this laptop dv1000 or dv6700. When starting the laptop, a black screen appears with a message something like Smart Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 2. The HDD selftest does not even run in the bios. But, what is strange, the disk can normally be connected to a USB laptop via a USB SATA adapter or via a USB HDD case, the disk is loaded and it is possible to format it. I wanted to install Win Vista on this disk in order to flash the bios on my dv6700 Special Edition.
I also found that one of my dv6700's has already flashed the bios to version F.58.
I disassembled this laptop and tried to replace the processor with an Intel X9000. Again, I only tried the disassembled motherboard with the power module and the panel with the start button attached, which I installed an SSD with Windows 10, I only put 2x 2 GB of RAM. But I didn't connect my own monitor, I just connected an external monitor via VGA (all drivers should be installed in Win 10 on this SSD, so the monitor should also work). But the laptop (or perhaps an external monitor) did not start, something must have been wrong (there was no signal on the external monitor, only the laptop fan was running).
Was this a good test to verify the functionality of the processor or should I connect my own monitor and even better install 2x 4 GB of RAM? (I already have those too.)

Hi:
You can't use an external monitor.
The monitor drivers are not loaded until Windows boots up and you need to have the graphics driver installed to project to an external display.
You have to be able to use the notebook's display to see if things are working correctly.
As far as the 60 GB drive, I don't know what the problem is with that.
