Hi,

I have purchased a cable for the 2nd hard drive in this laptop that is supposed to be for this laptop but I am not sure that it is?

It fits the port and seems to be for it but when hooked up the laptop doesn't start? i have had experience with a tower where I tried one of my cables in a modular power supply only to find that the computer wouldn't start with my cable in it. Obviously, this cable wasn't compatible. I seem to be having the same issue here.

However, I want to make sure that it isn't a different issue keeping the laptop from turning on before purchasing another cable.

This is the cable I purchased and which isn't working:

https://www.amazon.com/PAVILION-DV7-6000-DV6-6000-Connector-B3035050G00004/dp/B07K3WYVZ8/ref=sr_1_3?...

This is the cable that looks exactly like the one in the laptop for the primary drive which I have not purchased yet:

https://www.amazon.com/Second-Connector-Adapter-PAVILION-DV7-6000/dp/B00FSGGRPS

Could there be any other reason for this cable not working? I don't find anything in the BIOS for turning on or off the 2nd harddrive? When I switch the primary harddrive cable to the second harddrive port it turns on put doesn't recognize the operating system. When this cable is put in the DVD port it works fine, the computer starts into the operating system.

So, what might that be saying?

Anyhow, any suggesting’s would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John
