I got a for the screen only

I got a  HP DV7-4069WM  today it does power on but don't show video on the screen but on a external monitor (strange ) I then put it on my HP dv7 - 4065dx it shows video on the screen

can bad memory slots on the one I got (which don't matter as I only needed the screen anyway) cause it not to show video on the screen but only on a external screen?

Just wondering as again only needed the screen but if it is a easy fix would be good to have a extra lower half got this

Thank you

Todd

If it were a bad board likely would not show on an external monitor. Either the cable is bad or there is some fault with the slot where the screen cable plugs into the board (OK that is a type of bad board but not a bad gpu).

I suggest the following.

Connect the external screen and boot up and log into Windows.

Use the Windows key + the P key to enter presentation mode.

Choose "Duplicate" to see if the laptop's display turns on.

If it does, enter presentation mode again and  select PC only so the laptop's screen will stay on.

I think it is  a bad board as it shows no display when powering on maybe a bad connector on the motherboard and Bios has no setting for it

Too bad oh well like before only really needed it for the display and the case is not to bad too

Thank you

Si I got the video cable for my display and still shows nothing on the screen I also noticed the laptop I got for the screen now stopped working in this too is it not the same even thro both are 400 series one has a video GPU with vinyl  cover and other don't

one board number is

HP Pavilion DV7 DV7-4000 605496-001

.other is

DV7-4000 Series AMD Motherboard 615686-001

is there a difference between them and maybe it is a bad video connector as new cable did not work

I found a 17.3 lcd not the original one to see if it will boot the screen lite up it did so it has a bad backlight

screen I used is grainy probably because it is not the one for it

I also found by way of the looking at it I need a n17306-l02    and the internet says that it is compatible with a B173RW01-V3  which I can get for 15.00 is that true that the B173RW01-V3 is the Compatible With HP PAVILION DV7

I was looking at item 276267063540  on eBay which has no picture but item 226301053872 of the same thing as a image of the screen and a site says B173RW01 V.3, N173O6-L02 C3, LP173WD1 (TL)(N2) 17.3" LED Glossy Screen WXGA++ Display Compatible With HP PAVILION DV7

I asked the seller on this and waiting reply
