Is it possible to put a 8gb stick in one of the memory slots?  Currently it has 2 2gb sticks.

Hi:

 

The max for your specific model # is 2 x 4 GB for a total of 8 GB.

 

If it had one of the 1st gen i7 quad core processors, then you could have installed 2 x 8 GB for a ttl of 16 GB.
