Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi, I'd like to upgare my laptop to 16GB of RAM memory. I know that recomened maximum is 8GB but where is the limitation. I read similar posts on this forum that this is down to CPU so my CPU is "Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM Processor"

According to Intel website http://ark.intel.com/products/52219/Intel-Core-i7-2630QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-2_90-GHz this CPU may us up to 16GB of DDR3 1066/1333 Mhz. Also Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit can also utilise up to 16GB of the memory. Where is the bottle neck?

Hi:

You can install 2 x 8 GB in your notebook.

If you look at the service manual, it is a little confusing...

See Chapter 1, page 6, where it clearly indicates 16 GB is supported in the Intel models.

Hi, I am a little bit confused as there are more factors and I don't know how important they're. Like: CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC, or voltage. Are theses needs to be compatible as well? Thanks for answer

Hi:

For that model you would need PC3-10600 memory, CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC, 1.5V, not 1.35V.

Make sure the memory you get has 8 little black memory chips on each side of the circuit board, not 4.
