HP Pavilion g6-2238dx Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I want to upgrade the CPU and internal wifi card in my HP Pavilion g6-2238dx Notebook PC, Product number:C5U60UA. I currently have the AMD Vision A8-4500M APU Quad-Core processor with Radeon HD graphics and the Atheros AR5B125 internal mini wifi card.

I need to know if I can upgrade the CPU or if its soldered to board and what my processor options are, like an A10, something with a bit more speed. I also want to upgrade the wifi to AC technology. Im fully aware that there are usb wifi options out there, but I dont want anything external. I cannot seem to find the model of my motherboard and have no idea what socket the motherboard has. I've already maxed my RAM out to 8gb, the laptop runs ok, but could be better. I am upgrading the hard drive to solid state as well.

Any help with identifying CPU and internal wifi card card options would be greatly appreciated.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know whether you can upgrade the CPU on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I would like to inform you that you will not be able to upgrade the CPU on the computer and it is not recommended by HP.

The CPU is soldered to the motherboard, so you need to replace the motherboard and the CPU both if you wish to upgrade. However, these motherboards are custom made to fit the chassis of the computer, and an aftermarket motherboard may not fit in.

There is no AC standard wireless card tested by HP for your computer.

Below is the service guide for your computer for more information.

I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!
