Hi community,
I get the feeling that this is a re-occurring issue with other users, but my battery has become weak and when not plugged in depletes rapidly. I have had the Notebook for about 2 years. I had my previous Notebook for around 8 years with no battery problems at all, so this seems odd. I was just reading on another post, having just taken out my second extended warranty, that non-commercial laptop batteries are not covered by extended warranties. Is this me or is this a little unfair. If any component is going to go wrong on a laptop I would figure it being the battery. I'm dismayed by this discovery, as I have just had correspondence with HP, who mentioned nothing about not being able to resolve problem when I informed them about the battery issue.
So, I'm wondering what do I do now. Stick with my weak battery and make sure Im always near a plug when Im out and about, or is there somewhere I can go to get a replacement.
Any thoughts or suggestions folks?
Marc

I suggest replacing the battery.
Even Battery manufacturers only provide a one year warranty. That is an industry standard and it isn't something new.
I do suggest purchasing a replacement battery that is delivered with a warranty.
The battery part number is Battery (3-cell, 41-WHr, 3.6-AHr, Li-ion) HP p/n L11119-855
Online source at Amazon.co.uk
Maintenance & Service guide (see ch 3, pg 40, it 19)

Just one more thing. Is it easy enough to take out the old battery and replace with a new one, or do I need help?
Thanks again
Marc
Hi Marc,
As long as you have the right tools and patience it is an easy job. Some new batteries are delivered with the proper tools needed for the job. That is one thing to take note of if you don't already have jewelers screwdrivers and torx bits in your tool arsenal. Put the screws either on a piece of packing tape or in a small box to avoid losing them. Guitar pick or plastic spudger tool works well for opening the bottom cover.
