So in the notebook manual, it says that this notebook can only support M.2 SATA SSD, not M.2 NVMe. But then when I looked at the motherboard, the sockey looks like the one with M.2 NVMe (one space instead of two space like M.2 SATA). My question is, which type should I actually buy? Does the M.2 SATA SSD fits into that socket? Does it actually works with M.2 NVMe too?

I'm a newbie with this kind of things, sorry If my questions is kinda basic.

Thank you in advanced for your answeScreenshot_2018-12-26-18-49-38-535_com.whatsapp.png

Hi,

Yes the PCIe NVMe M2 SSD will fit in the slot, but will not work. Only the SATA 3 will work such as the M2 Samsung 860 evo or similar which are designed with the two groves to fit in more types of slots.

Hope it helps,

David

Oooh so the two groves design is meant to be made so that it can fit into broader kind of socket? Now I understand. Thank you very much. Now I can be sure which one to buy

Take a look at the below doc from Kingston, start at "What do the different module keys on M.2 SSD drives mean?"  It explains how the different types of sockets work.
