Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I haven't had to use the internal card reader before or for a very long time but it is now not working, when I need it.

It is not recognising the card when it is put in but it is also not listing the card reader in the device management list.  I have checked I have the most up to date BIOS, driver for Realtek and windows updates.

I have looked to see if it is disabled in the BIOS but I cannot see the option to check, the options are not the same a other solutions people have found.

Any help much apreciated.

The laptop is old and out of warranty now.

Have you tried installing the Realtek Card Reader driver to see if that resolves the issue?

I ask that because you have not specified that you tried already.

You can always go to a store that sells SD cards and purchase an adapter for the format card that you want that will plug into an available USB port.  That is a workaround if the Realtek Card reader is no longer functional.

Apologies for not saying that but yes I have tried re-installing the Realtek card reader driver. It does this and then nothing.

I have ordered a USB adapter but, am impatient, didn’t want to wait 😉

Thank you for your reply

OK.  YOu're welcome.

Going to the store cuts out the delivery in the post!
