Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I currently have 128 GB SATA-3, M.2 SSD. I'm trying to add a second SSD (2.5", 1 TB SATA) in the available hard drive bay because I'm running low on storage.

I got the hard drive caddy and a 10 pin cable. However, my computer does not turn on after I install the additional SSD. I then got a 12 pin cable and my computer still does not turn on when it is installed. Externally, the 1 TB is recognized through a USB adapter but when installed internally, it doesn't boot up. I can't even get to the BIOS.

Has anyone had success or advice in installing an additional SSD?

HI@rb_allison, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Request you to follow the below from the document to upgrade the hardware:-

Maintenance and Service Guide

Opening the notebook and upgrading it will not violate the warranty unless you damage something.    You need to be able to return the notebook to its original hardware configuration in the case of any required warranty repair.
