Dear HP Support Community,
I am writing to share my experience and express my disappointment regarding the durability and after-sales support for my HP Pavilion x360 laptop.
My parents spent their hard-earned savings to purchase this laptop for my college studies. It was an ideal device for my academic needs, and I took great care of it. However, just eight days after the warranty expired, the hinges began to fail, pushing the display out and eventually causing it to break. We immediately visited the HP service centre, but were told that since the issue occurred after the warranty period, no replacement could be offered. The quoted repair cost was nearly half the price of the original laptop, which was not feasible for us.
Unable to afford the repair, I did my best to use the laptop gently and avoid further damage. Despite my efforts, the second hinge also broke, detaching the display completely. Over time, the wires became exposed, and the situation worsened. I reached out to HP via email on Jan 10, 2022, 1:48 PM to report the problem, but received no response. I also raised this complaint on the HP community on 01-10-2022 01:38 AM and got a response, "I'm afraid, there is no other option in this case. As the product is out of warranty, you will have to pay for the service". With no other option, I continued using the laptop in its deteriorated state.
Now, five years later, the laptop is on the verge of becoming completely unusable, with the display failing rapidly. Throughout this period, the laptop was never mishandled, dropped, or subjected to any abuse. The failure appears to be a result of a design or manufacturing flaw that manifested shortly after the warranty ended, not due to any fault of the user.
As a student, this has caused significant inconvenience and financial strain. I hope HP will acknowledge the widespread nature of this hinge issue and consider providing support or a resolution for affected customers, even outside the warranty period.
Thank you for your attention.
