Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop is just 3 years old and yesterday when opening, I heard a clicking sound. Every time I opened/closed the lid or adjusted it, I heard it and it is wobbly. I looked at it today and the screen is popping out in the lower right hand corner. I can see everything behind it! And it seems the hinge(s) are loose and they are no longer even on both sides. This seems quite ridiculous and must be a design flaw as the laptop has not been dropped or had anything dropped on it. How does this just suddenly happen? On top of that, this model is the one that can be folded to convert to a tablet and I have only ever even done that twice since the purchase. Please help! I am a student and cannot afford to purchase another new laptop after only a couple of years due to again what can only be described as a design flaw.

Hi@SimplyLola,

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Apologies for all the inconvenience

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance. Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution

I have the same issue man its a known problem hp does nothing about. my computer is only 1.5 yrs old. I just finished sending an email to an hp support person about it we will see whether or not they get back to me. This is clearly a design flaw that has been going on for years now. I've read posts on here going back to 2014 with the same issue... so why havent they fixed it yet?It seems they like to make them purposely fragile so they will break, and you have to replace it.

My laptop is no longer under warranty or a service plan. The link you sent me is going to require me to pay out of pocket at a repair location for assistance. So, you are really telling all of the people experiencing this issue that it's on us to have repaired at our expense after spending good money on this product? Please tell me that is not the case!

Did you have any luck hearing back from support?

im messaging the same guy whose replying to your thread. so far they have asked for my laptop information... model no, serial no, etc. I revcieved a message today saying he has escalated my issue to some higher ups, and they will get back to with my options (if any) in their words, in 2-4 business days. I imagine they are just going to tell me there is no option in my region since i live in the caribbean.

How on earth did you get a reply? He hasn't responded to me since his original message.
