Hi @Nya_k,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to open your HP Pavilion x360 m1 Convertible PC without a middle screw can be tricky, but it's possible with care. Follow these steps to access the internal components for cleaning:

1. Preparation

Tools needed:

  • Phillips-head screwdriver (appropriate size for your laptop screws).
  • A thin plastic prying tool or guitar pick (avoid metal tools to prevent damage).
  • Tweezers (optional).
  • Anti-static wrist strap (recommended).

Ensure safety:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger and all peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds to discharge residual electricity.

2. Locating and Removing Screws

Check all screws:

  • Turn the laptop upside down.
  • Remove all visible screws securing the bottom cover, including those hidden under:
    • Rubber feet (may need to peel them back gently).
    • Plastic covers or stickers.

Missing middle screw:

  • If the middle screw is missing, ensure no residual thread or obstruction is preventing the cover from loosening. A missing screw shouldn’t prevent disassembly unless other components are stuck.

3. Prying Open the Case

  • Insert the plastic prying tool into the gap between the bottom cover and the laptop’s frame.
  • Slide the tool gently around the edges to release the clips securing the cover.
    • Apply even pressure to avoid bending or cracking the cover.
    • Focus on the edges; the middle section may not require prying if the surrounding edges are free.

4. Addressing Stubborn Covers

If the cover still doesn’t release:

Inspect carefully:

  • Look for hidden screws or clips.
  • Verify the absence of glue or adhesive that might need gentle heat to loosen.

Apply light pressure:

  • Sometimes, the cover might feel stuck because of tightly held clips. Firmly but gently lift the cover near the edges with more resistance.

5. Cleaning Inside

  • Once open:
    • Use a can of compressed air to blow out dust.
    • Avoid touching sensitive components.
    • Clean fan blades and vents thoroughly.

6. Reassembly

  • Align the bottom cover and press down evenly around the edges until all clips snap into place.
  • Replace the screws (or note the missing one for future replacement).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
