Pavilion CK 0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Guys, my laptop as below spec

Recently when i play some game i feel lagging, and i see task manager my ram is quite high usage.

i thinking about upgrading the ram.

Mainboard : 841C HP

CPU : I5 8520U

Graphic : Intergrated UHD 620 and MX150

SSD + HDD (256GB + 1TB)

Window 10 pro (64bit)

RAM : Samsung 4GB-2400 (1200mhz) ram 4gb.

Question

1. Userguide show support up to 16GB RAM. Can i upgrade 16GB + 16GB = 32 GB?

2. Dual channel works only max for 2400? Can i put 2666 ?

3. If I buy another RAM 16GB 2666, will i get dual channel partial 2400 of my current ram?

Please advise which upgrade is suitable

Hi,

Basically from having seen that HP DDR4 systems will run with 32GB of RAM. Many Members have tried here in Community and I have tried myself on my HP DDR4 system.

You can also see on Crucial site which guarnteesits upgrades that a model from that series will support 32GB of RAM (even if 16GB is mentioned in service manual)

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-15-ck000nb

Yes, the RAM will run at 2400Mhz in dual channel mode.

Hope it helps,

David

Hi,

You can upgrade max to 32GB of DDR4 2400Mhz (2x16GB)

You can purchase RAM of your preferred brand such as Crucial, Samsung...

You can insert 2666Mhz RAM, however it will still run at 2400Mhz.

For dual channel it is best to have exactly the same stick of RAM in each slot. There are kits available especially designed for this purpose.

On page 36 of service manual you can see the steps to upgrade RAM:

Hope it helps,

David
