I purchased this laptop last November and it is wonderful. About a month ago I noticed the screen seemed to be coming away from the lid at the lower left. It now has about a 1 1/2" crack in the plastic lid about 1" above the left hinge and runs from left edge towards the right. I can feel the screen rising when lid is open. I have never dropped or hit or damaged the laptop. Can this be fixed and if so what is the best way to accomplish this.
p.s. I just ordered another HP laptop for my son and having second thoughts.

Would an extended warranty cover fixing the crack?
HP Support advised me that out of warranty it would cost somewhere in the area of $400 to fix (almost as much as a new laptop).
Does anyone have a recommendation on another manufacturer that will stand by their products?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

An HP employee contacted me through email and has offered to repair my laptop even though it is 119 days out of warranty. I will keep you updated on the progress.
As a result of their response I decided to go ahead with my purchase of a new HP envy laptop and will be adding the 3 year Care Pack which I highly recommend as you just never know.
I will advise after hearing about the HP plan to repair my Pavillion.

Last evening I received my laptop after being repaired by HP. It was like receiving a new laptop. I am so appreciative of the efforts by HP to attend to my issue even though out of warranty. I was offered a 1 year CarePack and immediately made the purchase (reasonable price). I cannot say enough about how well HP has treated me and highly recommend purchasing HP products and CarePack. You will not be disappointed.
