Hello
Can someone please help me to choose correct M.2 SSD for my notebook pc ?
In Maintenance and Service Guide for HP ProBook 440 G6,mentioned M.2 type as follows
So can i use M.2 SATA SSD ?
or
M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD ?
or
should i use M.2 PCIe SSD ? (NOT NVMe) ??
If i can use M.2 SATA SSD , Can i use 480GB insted of 128 GB ?
Really need help please
Thank You

Hi:
I'm assuming that your notebook has a 2.5" mechanical hard drive now?
The terms PCIe and NVMe are used interchangeably.
So, where you see PCIe in the manual, that means the M.2 slot supports NVMe SSD's.
According to the manual, the M.2 slot supports both SATA and NVMe SSD's but NVMe SSD's are about 5 times faster than SATA ones are.
If you wanted to install a larger capacity SATA SSD, that should be fine.
The drive capacities listed in the service manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.

You're very welcome.
Is the memory working OK?
Normally I never install two new and different components at the same time.
That is because if something goes wrong, I don't know which one of the devices I added caused the problem.
For example, you are lucky the PATRIOT VIPER STEEL gaming memory you installed worked because normally it has faster timings than the standard memory HP installed in your notebook, and you can't make any adjustments in the BIOS.
I have no idea why the notebook rejected the NVMe SSD.
You may want to try a more mainstream model such as a Samsung 980 (not Pro) 500 GB NVMe or a Western Digital Blue SN 570 NVMe.

Yes.i installed both ram and ssd to acer 7th gen notebook pc and both are working fine.
I installed only SSD hp notebook (without new ram and mechanical hdd) and still gives bsod.
But with mechanical hdd and new ram+original ram works well in hp notebook.
To me finding different models ssds are hard because of money in my country.i have to buy them to test.
I bought patriot ssd referring manual and now its useless.so sad.
I want to know is if i bought another SATA M.2 ssd will it work fine ?

Hi:
If you wanted to try a SATA M.2 SSD, that should work fine.
I still don't understand why the NVMe SSD doesn't work.
Can you buy a Western Digital Blue M.2 SATA SSD in your country?
That model would provide the fastest performance.

With the current economic situation in my country(US dollers shortage),government restricted (stopped) imports.so i have to buy what's left in our market.so i don't think i can buy this.but its fine.
What do you think about Kingston A400 M.2 480gb.(SA400M8/480G) ? Will it work fine ? I hope to use it as boot drive and mechanical HDD to store data.

Yes, I think the Kingston A400 480 GB M.2 should work fine.
Amazon.com: Kingston 480GB A400 M.2 Internal SSD SA400M8/480G - Increase Performance : Electronics
From what I can find it has these max read/write specs...up to 500MB/s read and 450MB/s write.
It's considerably slower than the WD Blue but I guess you have to buy what is available.
