Hi,
I want to change the primary SSD and wondering if the HP ProBook 440 G9 (678R0AV) will support something like a 2TB Samsung 980 PRO at max speeds.
Thanks

Hi James3991.
As seen on this model's manual and datasheet, it has a primary storage Gen4 slot and a secondary storage 2230 Gen3 slot. As to whether it will support 2TB drives, we've established it will run fine with either 2TB and 4TB ones: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-Notebooks/Can-HP-Probook-440-or-450-G9-take-a-4TB-M-2-2280-SS...
So the answer is YES on both counts -size and speed. However the Samsung Pro SSDs are not the best choice for compatibility with HP laptops.....

Generally I don't like to suggest specific products, so I'll just say that since this isn't a gaming rig, you should just go for good compatibility. For HP laptops, this means Crucial or Western Digital SSDs and I've had good experience with Kingston. Just go for normal Gen4 drives. No need to go for Gen5 or BLACK or any kind of gaming oriented SSDs (with all its bells and whistles). You will get absolutely zilch for your money...
