Hello Community,
Question/Request: I am looking forward to upgrade my old Portable Computer HP ProBook 640 G1 with a couple of SSD´s.
Please let me know if I can proceed like the following:
1) Replacing the original HDD with a SSD 1GB Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 (CT1000MX500SSD1).
2) And Also would like to know if I should use a caddy to remove my Optical DVD Drive and place the second SSD, or if there was any NGFF (Next Generation Form Factor) slot to store a SSD NGFF M.2 drive as I think I´ve seen on the Maintenance Guide for this model seen here:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04823617 (Page 70 - Section "Solid-state drive")
I am considering this DogFish M.2 2242 SSD: LINK
Which if it is confirmed that I can make use of a NGFF (Next Generation Form Factor) Solid State Drive as shown on Page#72 (first image on top) this would allow me to keep my Optical Drive and install both SSDs this way. Please confirm if this Slot would be the one from the WWAN Interface. (Currently my portable does not have a WWAN NIC, so this would not be a problem).
Please advice if there is any SSD limitation by hardware or if it is ok to install the 1GB Crucial SSD mentioned above and any other SSD on the Optical Drive Slot (using a caddy) or if there is a NGFF Slot I can use.
Regards.

Datasheet of the series
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04027668#AbT2
For storage, it ONLY has SATA II (2) and you can use SATA III (3) 2.5" HDD or SSD because SATA III is backward compatible.
More information
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04027668#AbT2
It short
(a) You can replace existing HDD with Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5" 1TB or 2TB.
(b) It does not have M.2 slot therefore you can only use Optical drive slot to add more storage.
Regards.
