Hello guys, I have read lots of forums and lots of replies about upgrading the cpu in probook 650 G1. Using HWinfo I saw that I have QM87 chipset, which means that I can use quad core cpus without any issue. So I updated the bios to the latest version 1.50 just to be sure. With the bios updated I turned the laptop off, disconnected battery and replaced i5-4300m with i7-4810mq. After turning laptop on it posted just fine and loaded windows without any issue. Everything works just fine but much more faster. I think it's possible put here even 4910mq or higher 🤣 because of the chipset... This was a big step in power and I'm surprised how the tiny cooler hasn't any problems with heat bc i5 has 37W and now I'm using i7 which has 47W. I have the version without amd gpu so this was the reason I was scared that my laptop will overheat. But it's chilly cool now. Upgrade from i5-4300m to i7-4810mq is possible and it was succesful 😎 merry xmas

You can also use to of the line for the series: Intel Core i7-4802MQ 2.70-GHz processor (1600-MHz FSB, 6.0-MB L3 cache, quad core, 47 W; for use only on computer models equipped with a 14.0-inch display assembly)
Regards.
