Hello HP Community,

I recently acquired a free tech lot from a nearby village and in it was a HP ProBook 6560B Laptop. One thing about this laptop is the fact that the system lid needs to be opened using a plastic pick from my iFixit Toolkit as the computer uses display latches to secure the laptop down. I don’t know how to fix this, hence the reason why I’m asking the community. I hope there is an easy solution to this problem. 😊

There is no easy solution for that.

You are probably better off using the current method of opening it, unless you can scavenge a display assembly from a non-booting 6560B parts candidate.

It would require removal, disassembly and inspection of the display to see what part(s) are missing.

I am looking at the Maintenance & Service guide for the 6560B and I do not see a display latch as part of the cover assembly.

I also checked the HP PartSurfer data for your laptop and do not see the latch sold separately.

I am certain that I have the ProBook 6560B Model. I’ll see if I can track down a non-working model and see if that fixes my problem. Thank you for your best advice. 😊
