Hi,
I have a HP Probook 450 G2 I7-4510U with 8gb ram and would like to know if its possible to upgrade the processor to one that has more cores? The laptop has two video cards Intel HD 4400 and AMD Radeon R5 M255 2G.
Thank you,
Best regards

The processor is soldered to the motherboard so not separately replaceable. And in your instance you already have the best motherboard offered for that model so no upgrade path. There is a 5th gen i7 version offered but its also dual core and that exchange would not be worth the effort in any event.
Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.

Thank you for your reply.
Is it possible to install an M2 SSD as I have read in the forum that it is faster than SATA SSDs?
If yes, which type of M2 SSD would be suitable for my motherboard?
Best regards
Marwan

It does have a slot for a 42mm M.2 SSD but this would be SATA and a SATA M.2 is the same speed as a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Only PCIe/NVME type M.2 SSDs are faster and they are much faster like 5 or 6 times but your laptop is a little too old to have such compatibility. 42mm M.2s are harder to find and more expensive than 2.5 inch SATA SSDs so I would stick with the 2.5 inch.
Please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Thank you Huffer.
What about the number of cores? The processor has only 2 but its an I7. Do you think it will handle well multitasking (Not video editing, extreme gaming etc...) ?
I have an I3 5005U CPU @ 2.00GHZ 2 cores and I am asking myself is there going to be any difference with the performance with this one?
If we compare an I7 with two cores with a lower intel processor with more cores, which one do you think is better?
Looking forward for your reply,
Marwan H
