Hi

I have received the card RTL8821CE from ali express

Now its showing both 2.4 ghz and 5.8 ghz wifi

Connection to both both bands is also ok

But speed on 2.4 ghz is low i e. 45-50 mbps

Speed on 5ghz wifi is exactly according to my DSL connection i.e. 100mbps

Hence i have to use 5ghz band to have max speeds

Contrary to this, speed test of both bands on my MOBILE is showing exactly 100mbps

Plz explain this contradiction and anamoly...

Hi:

I can't explain it other than to say that the maximum throughput on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is only 72 MBPS, so 50 MBPS seems about normal to me.

Please see the screenshots of my mobile attached herewith

It shows 2.4 ghz wlan config and speed test on my android phone

It shows max link speed of 400mbps

It may be the WLAN speed

But chk another screenshot of speedtest on 2.4ghz

Its reaching more than 90mbps on 2.4 ghz

Hence urs 72mbps logic does not fit in

What does the speedtest on your phone have to do with the RTL8821CE?

The maximum throughput of the RTL8821CE wifi adapter is 72 MBPS.

There are Wi-Fi cards that run as fast as 144 MBPS on the 2.4 GHZ Wi-Fi band.

The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is not limited to 72 MBPS, the RTL8821CE adapter is.

OK

It means I have to use always 5.8 GHz for max speed

Thanks for your clarification

You're very welcome.

The 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band will normally always provide the best speed.

The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band will normally always provide the best signal strength.

So, there may be times when the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi signal is weak, check to see if the 2.4 GHz signal is better.

The worse the reception, normally the worse the Wi-Fi speed.

You can always check the actual speed the Wi-Fi card is connecting at by going to the Windows control panel>network and internet>network and sharing center>view your active networks.

Click on the Wi-Fi connection on the right side of that window and it will show you the speed the RTL8821CE is connecting at.

With a very strong signal, it should be connecting at 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band.

That is the connection speed, not the download speed.
