Dear all
My Laptop HP Probook 450 G2 Series Mother board got dead . IT guy has checked all means & told to replace the mother board . I got shocked as never faced such issue .
Is it worth to change the mother board or go for new laptop.
I dont want to spend much as it is only 2 years i have spent on new laptop . I went for Probook rather than pavillion model for office work purpose but still my Pavillion model ( bought earlier than Probook ) works well .
Also whether the pavillion mother board works /suitable for Probook model ?
Suggest or advice on this problem
what would be approximate cost of mother board for Probook ?
regards
Vijay

Hi
Simple stuff to start with. Hard Reset.
Press and Hold the PWR off button for 4 seconds to force a PWR off.
Unplug from the wall.
If you see a battery compartment door, your computer has a removable battery. Remove the battery.
This is valid for most notebooks;
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to complete the reset.
Re-insert any battery you removed.
Then Press and hold the ESC key and apply power. Any change?

Hi Vijay,
There are many motherboards available for your model of PC. It depends a lot what motherboard you had in your PC and if it has a discrete graphics card or not. On page 78 of service manual you can see all the motherboards available for your model. A new motherboard will be real expensive, a used or riconditioned one less.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04763183
For example let us say you have the i5-5200U with 2GB of discrete GPU RAM and Windows 7
799561-001 is the part number
New from HP:
New from reseller:
https://it.eetgroup.com/i/799561-001-HP-Inc.-Motherboard-2Gb-I5-5200U-G2
Used from ebay (from China)
So, let us know what processor and graphics card is in your system. Naturally you can also change the board with better CPU or GPU, however if you change the GPU specification, you might also need to change the heatsink.
Let us know,
David

Hi CF4
I tried to do below step but it is not powered on.
When i remove the battery and connected the power source , there is no symptom of power going inside laptop
but if i connect the battery back and connected power source then i can see the power is going inside & battery getting charged
No light blink visible on Power button & CAPS lock button

Hi
Because it looks likely it is a Main Board fault, then all that is left is to remove the HDD, RAM and any other connected device or component and apply power.
If there is no change, then I suggest a change on Motherboard.
Use the excellent reference post given by @iomare to continue.

HI Iomare
I have identified the model number 799562-001 ., seems new one is 998 USD , used one /refurbished one coming under 300 USD
Intel i7-5500U processor; 2-GB discrete graphics memory , 001 is due to i purchased with DOS , later loaded the Windows 10 OS
But is there any authorized good vendor who can fit this used or new refurbished mother board & perform overall service maintanance ?
Regards
Vijay

I do not know what country you are in. Personally, I would take the PC and buy the parts and take to a trusted local computer technician/repair store. They should be able to replace the motherboard easily.
Finding a HP authorized repair store might be difficult, expensive and I do not know if they would let you bring your own parts.
Hope it helps,
David
