HP ProBook 4730s Notebook PC

Hi there

I got an old HP Probook 4730s from a firm replacing their old gadgets, which apparently came with Windows 7, but had been upgraded to Win 10 Pro. It otherwise has an Intel Core 5 and I suppose the original HDD replaced with an SSD.

They had also reset it, so I yet have to get all the drivers, especially since HP seems to have stopped at Win 8.1.

The firm technician mentioned it gets quite hot but did not know why.

When I got it, I completed Win 10 installation and also immediately noted the unusually high heat development. Even when only Windows updates were being installed + MS Edge open, Speccy showed the temperatures were at times under 90°C, but quite often over 90 and as high as 97°C, which is from my little knowledge is way too high.

At the same time, another exact model, which a colleague got, was while running similar processes mentioned above not hot at all as I was setting it up.

I do work involving using multiple browser tabs, graphic & video editing software and just cannot imagine what that would do, if with hardly anything running you have such high temps!

The notebook appears not to have been used much and I would like to use it.

I did open it up and the suspicion the fan is clogged with dust was not the case. The inside was not dusty at all. Just after turning off, that visible copper(?) strip leading to the processor(?) was still extremely hot when I touched it, which explains those high temperatures.

So my question is, what could the problem be and how can I quickly solve it?

Could it be software-related like missing drivers for Win 10? Currently only those Windows 10 could get are installed. Also an initial attempt to get those for AMD Radeon HD 7400m series from amd.com failed as the auto-recognition tool says they no longer support that hardware and with a manual search cannot say which ones are for as they only have HD 74XXX and not just 7400 ...

Windows keeps sending an alert the AMD drivers are not installed.

I am wondering if I can, to try those for Win 8.1 64 Bit.

May be someone could suggest irrespective of the heat issue about Win 10 drivers.

The most urgent problem is the heat issue, which makes me choose not to use the gadget for now. Exactly how do I solve this? Please be specific as I'm not a profi.

I would appreciate a detailed response.

Thank you in advance
