Hello,
I'd like to ask a question. I ordered an i5 2520M to replace my ancient notebook (HP ProBook 6460b) but it turned out it is an i5 2450M. First I put the CPU into the socket the laptop worked well, I could install the drivers, check-in CPUZ, but after the laptop did not turn on, the screen remained black. In theory, the processor is supported, what would be the problem?

Kind Regards
Balage

Then the processor died....gave its last bit of life and now is no good. The motherboard is fine.

If it worked at all the processor is compatible. Something new has gone wrong. What happens when you try to power up?

Thank you for the reply.

So first it boots to windows, and works well, I even could run CPU-Z and install drivers.

Second time I turn on the computer, the fan starts to spin very loudly and I just see a black screen and nothing happens. Caps lock and another button's led lights up.

Also, I put back the old Core 2 CPU and works well. Just if I swap the CPU. BIOS is updated.
