I have a older laptop a HP Probook 6465b that only has a AMD A4-3330MX 2.2GHz( 2 cores) looking online I see this laptop supports an A8-3510MX 1.8GHz (4 Cores) will I see much difference in the way it runs and will upgrading to the A8 mess up the Windows activation?
The laptop runs OK but I feel the APU is not the best it seems kinda slow when loading web pages and other big programs( I see it can max out easy). I can't afford a new laptop so upgrading is my only option.
I don't game, all I do is surf the web/Youtube and watch music videos(HD) Movies and listen to music.
I try to run a virus scan and the A4 hits 100% in seconds. Can only do a quick scan.
If all I do is listen to music or watch music videos that are on my laptop already the laptop runs great, fast boot times and fast to turn off. The small things run great.
Just loading Youtube is enough to max out the A4 till the page is 100% loaded it's a pain. I could use some info and help thanks.
System spec's as of now:
Windows 10 Home OEM
500GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD
16GB 1600MHz ram
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Adam

Hi Adam,
If you look on page 67 of the service manual, you can see the various CPUs supported and steps to install. Remember to replace the thermal material with quality material such as Arctic MX4 or better. Remember to clean off the old thermal paste without scraping the surface of Heat Sink.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03066699
It will not have any effect on the Windows license.
Hope it helps,
David

When would I know it's time for a new battery? I have a 6 cell 55 Wh installed now and the most I get is with battery saver on I get about 3 hours without this on I get about 2 hours max I'm not sure what's normal battery life.
Also The screen has about 3 maybe 4 tiny black spots about the size of a needle tip only see it if what I'm watching is light in color and I'm close up. It's been like that for about a year without getting worse so far. Should I look into a new screen? I can get one on Ebay cheap. Or should I wait and see if it gets worse then replace the screen.
Thanks.
