Hello HP community,
I decided to buy several HP computers since the previous unit I had is a really good product.
I wanted to upgrade the RAM and going through the specs (https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05381695.pdf) the SODIMM specifications are as follows:
Compliance: Unbuffered non-ECC PC4-17000 DDR4-2133 MHz-compliant
Support: CAS latency 15 DDR4 2400 MHz (15-15-15 timing)
What is the difference between 'Compliance' and 'Support' ?
Somehow it seems based on RAM specifications on the market some of the specifications mentioned in the manual are conflicting with each other.
2133MHz makes sense with the 17000 part, since the 2133 MHz gives the 17000 MB transfer rate.
The CAS latency in the support section sure.
However the 2400 MHz in the support section doesn't align with everything else... for example it would give 19200 transfer rate.
Why ?
Thank you

Hi:
The 800 G3 DM supports both Intel 6th and 7th gen core processors.
HP Elite 800 G3 Business Desktop Business PCs
The 6th gen processors run the memory at 2133 MHz, but the 800 G3's with the 7th gens run the memory at 2400 MHz.
You may find that the memory HP installed is DDR4-2400 running at 2133 MHz if your PC is like my 800 G3 DM with an Intel 6th gen i5 core processor.
HP installed DDR4-2400 memory in mine, not DDR4-2133, but it bridges to 2133 MHz.
It was probably easier for them to just equip the model series with DDR4-2400 memory chips, and it is certainly a benefit to anyone who wants to upgrade the 6th gen core processor to a 7th gen core processor.
