HP Spectre x360 Laptop - 15-eb0016no
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there

I have a Spectre x360 laptop, which came with win10 originally. After several years I upgraded to win11 and now the tilt pen (HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 tilt pen) does not work anymore. I have updated all the drivers, and made sure to get all the windows updates as well.  Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks in advance 🙂

@VahidK, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen on Windows 11!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It’s unfortunate that your HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen is not functioning after upgrading to Windows 11. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Charge the Pen: Ensure that the pen is fully charged by attaching it to the magnetic pen attachment and charger area on your Spectre x360, over the two microphones.

  • LED Indicator:
    • Blinking amber: Battery is low.
    • Static amber: Pen is charging.
    • Off: Pen is fully charged.
      Charge the pen

Update Drivers: Even though you've updated the drivers, it’s important to ensure that you have the latest updates specifically for the pen and system components. Here’s how to check:

  • Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates. Install any updates that are available.
  • HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant to check for any driver updates. You can launch it from the Start menu or taskbar and let it search for the latest updates directly from HP.

Device Manager: Verify the pen drivers through the Device Manager.

  • Right-click on the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
  • Look for the pen under Human Interface Devices or Bluetooth and right-click on it.
  • Select Update driver and then Search automatically for updated driver software.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

My Tilt Pen MPP 2.0 that came with the Spectre x360 does not work. It is not displayed via bluetooth. I have followed all the tips, Windows updates, especially Bluetooth, and all the other tips I found on the net. Bluettooth works when finding all other devices. I am using a Spectre x360 and Windows 11 Home.

Hi @frank2171

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying it all out so clearly.Let’s walk through a few targeted steps that might help revive the connection.

🛠️ Fixes to Try for MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen Not Pairing

1. Charge the Pen Fully

  • Attach the pen to the magnetic charging area on your Spectre x360 (usually near the microphones).
  • Watch for the LED:
    • Blinking amber = low battery
    • Solid amber = charging
    • Off = fully charged

2. Put the Pen in Pairing Mode

  • Press and hold the top button on the pen for 3–5 seconds.
  • Look for a solid blue light—this means it’s ready to pair.

3. Pair via Bluetooth Settings

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth.
  • Wait for HP Tilt Pen to appear and select it.

If it doesn’t show up:

  • Try removing other paired pens or styluses.
  • Restart your laptop and retry pairing.

4. Update Drivers

  • Use HP Support Assistant to check for updates specific to your pen and system.
  • In Device Manager, expand Human Interface Devices and Bluetooth:
    • Right-click any pen-related entries and choose Update driver.

5. Reset the Pen (if supported)

  • Some models have a tiny reset pinhole—check the manual or HP’s Tilt Pen setup guide for instructions.

🧠 Bonus Tip: Compatibility Check

Not all HP pens work with all HP laptops. But since yours came bundled with the Spectre x360, it should be fully compatible. Still, if the pen isn’t charging or showing any LED activity, it might be a hardware fault.

Let me know if you'd like help checking your pen’s warranty or prepping for a support call. You’ve already done a ton of troubleshooting—let’s get this pen back in action! 🖊💪
