- HP SPECTRE X360 13-AE013DX won't turn on or charge

Hello.
I purchased the $1500 HP SPECTRE X360 13-AE013DX in April 2018 for college. It is less than four years later, and the laptop will not turn on or charge. The power light flashes for a second, then immediately goes off. When I plug a charger into the USB C ports, the charging light illuminates. When I go to hold the power button down for 15 seconds to reset, the charging light goes off at about 10 seconds in. I opened up the laptop and disconnected the battery, repeated the aforementioned process, and still nothing.
This is terribly frustrating, as I rarely use this HP laptop because of overheating/fans running constantly. I have very important files on this laptop that has become a $1500 useless paperweight. How has there not been a recall or some sort of additional support? Has anyone had this particular problem, and had it resolved?

Hi @Meldoy23,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Spectre X360 13-AE013DX won't turn on or charge, there are several things you can try to troubleshoot the problem.
- Check the power source: Make sure that the power outlet or surge protector you are using is working properly. You can test this by plugging in another device and seeing if it powers on.
- Check the charger and cable: Make sure that the charger and cable are properly plugged into the laptop and the power source. Check for any visible damage to the cable or charger.
- Reset the laptop: Sometimes, the laptop can get stuck in a power-saving mode or hibernation. You can reset the laptop by holding down the power button for 15 seconds, then releasing it and trying to turn it on again.
- Try a different charger and cable: If the charger and cable are damaged, they may not be providing enough power to the laptop. Try using a different charger and cable to see if this solves the problem.
- Remove the battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it and then reinserting it. This can sometimes help to reset the laptop and allow it to turn on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello,
I've tried all of these before I posted. I tried them all again over the past three days. The charging light is on, but the power light comes on an off without ever booting up the computer. Is there a recall for this computer? What is my next option?
