@TAN_UH

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I understand the shift key on the keyboard doesn't work unless you push harder than usual,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Does the issue occur on both the shift keys or is just the left or right shift?

Have you connected an alternate keyboard to check if the issue persists on it as well?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:

If the alternate keyboard works or one of the two shift keys are working, you can Contact HP to have the inbuilt keyboard repaired or rather replaced, considering the device is under warranty, there should be an issue or a charge to get this taken care off ASAP.

That said, I suggest you run a quick hardware (interactive) test and that should fetch you a failure code, this can be provided to the phone support tech for a quicker repair/replacement service from HP, use this link for details: https://hp.care/2uoegKc

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

* Open link:  https://hp.care/2moMFSc

* Enter Product number or select to auto detect

* Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

* Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get a Case & phone number.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

I appreciate your comments and the process of having the device repaired is specific to the region,

And I would recommend you Contact HP, so that a technician could give you all the details you need over the phone.

You can then make a call, if you'd like to proceed with the repair or alternatively, make use of an external keyboard until you have the time to spare for a repair.
