HP Spectre x360 - 15-ch054na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. The base to my Spectre 360-15 has become separated from the keyboard. In addition, the mousepad right and left clicks no longer work (possibly caused by the bowing)

Forums indicate that the problem lies with the battery but I ran the specific utility for this problem, and it informs me that the battery is not the recalled item. In addition, it doesn't get hot.

The rest of the laptop is fine.

If it's not the battery, anyone have any ideas what it is?

The battery is likely swelling and it will still test OK. There is really no other way a keyboard can bow up like that. The battery needs to be replaced ASAP.

ok thanks Huffer, I'll get on it 🙂

Although thinking about it, the utility should flag up if the battery is one of the 'dodgy' ones and not give you a statement which says it isn't. If it swells up, it is definitely malfunctioning.

You would think but the battery can keep functioning apparently normally as it swells up. The batteries that have been recalled are not recalled because they swell. All Lithium ion natteries are subject to swelling. Happens in cell phones and all brands of laptop.
