HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15t-ch000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The battery is dangerously swollen, battery life noticeably dropped, it's messing up the touch pad and mouse keys, and even pushed the bottom plate off.

Problem is, I can hardly find any replacements and the ones I do find won't ship to Hawaii.

Anybody have any suggestions? HP support doesn't exist. Thank you

Well, you may as well remove the battery - it will fail and it has already done enough damage.

Most computers of this type will run without the battery installed - the only problem is that you really don't want to lose AC power or the computer will crash / stop immediately.  Sort of like having a Desktop, I guess.

Hopefully, once the battery is out of there, the other components will be OK and the case will close up better.

Don't force anything...

Keep your backups current.

Useless patter:

Not sure how to get around the shipping rules - some things that we can get on the Mainland apparently cannot get on a plane and ship to your location.  Tech is making its way to the Islands somehow or no one could buy a computer...

If you can get someone (a merchant, mainland friend, colleague) help you purchase and legally ship the part,

Here is the information you need:

Things that are the Battery

"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery – Sealed / Internal Battery

  • Swollen battery might be hiding OR there might be evidence that the battery has inflated.  For example, notebook case is warped, touchpad stops working, “odd” bulging near the keyboard.

  • If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.  There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.

Thanks for the quick response!

In my case the battery is YB06XL and HP part number: 928427-271

I believe I can have it shipped to family on the mainland and pray that they're allowed to send it here somehow.

oh and it appears everything has fallen back into place now that the battery is out, so at least there's that.

You are welcome.

Not sure - check with the Post Office ... if battery cannot be sent via Air,  maybe they'd let it come over on a ship in a cargo container from the West Coast.

Yeah, I know... Might as well buy new computer or get on a plane and come get the battery yourself (you know, if we could travel anywhere right now).

Good Luck.
