HP Spectre x360

I have had my hp Spectre for about 3 years and the screen just went black today. The laptop will turn on and is fully charged but the screen remains black. The light on the caps lock button blinks when it is on. Through looking on line it appears that something has happened with the motherboard burning out. I am sure this is probably what happened because I thought it smelled a little smokey for some reason which really scared me. I’ve tried all the different troubleshooting things which makes me think this is the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am a poor college student trying to do all of my classes online during this time of quarantining.
