Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.
https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
If you continue facing the issue then, reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.
Here is how you do it.
Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”
Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”
Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.
Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”
Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.
Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

@The_Fossette
Thank you for your response. I replied yesterday, but must have done it incorrectly.
I did the BIOS update as suggested (by you and HP Support via phone). The update did not seem to fix my problem, as my computer continues to not recognize any adapters.
I tried to do the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery reinstall also, but it never uninstalls. I have tried several times, restarting both before and after scanning for hardware changes, but it is always still there.
I leave it plugged into the adapter always, hoping for a change. It will always get some minor charge during the night, but not show as "plugged in" when checked. However, yesterday it showed 100% remaining (still not showing recognition of the adapter). Upon returning home this evening, it is showing "fully charged" at the battery icon and the white light was on at the charging port. This is the first I have had a light there since this issue began.
I don't know if it is resolved or not. Please advise and thank you for your assistance,

I recommend you observe the computer and check whether the issue is resolved.
If you continue facing the issue, follow the below steps.
Press ‘Win + I’ shortcut keys to open Windows Settings app.
Click on ‘Update & Security’, then go to the ‘Troubleshoot’ section from the left-side menu.
Scroll downwards a bit and click on the ‘Power’ option.
Click on ‘Run the Troubleshooter’. It will start detecting the problems and if it founds, go ahead fixing it.

Thanks, I will continue to monitor. I still haven't seen the "plugged in - charging" or "plugged in - not charging" indication at the battery icon, yet while I am sleeping and/or at work, charging occurs.
I appreciate your assistance and will try the Update & Security troubleshooting you indicate.

I ran the battery troubleshooting as recommended. The only issues found and fixed are related to too much time before display dims, and computer and display go to sleep (3 items restored to default setting).
For now, it seems to be charging intermittently, so I will assume it is fine.
Thank you!
