My son’s HP Spectre went dead with no warning yesterday. Now it won’t come on or charge. No lights on anything. Took it to Best Buy and their best guess is that it is the motherboard. How does a motherboard go out on a laptop that is barely 1 1/2 years old? His grandparents paid about $2000 to gift it to him for college. After researching, it looks like this is a known issue. I am not happy to possibly be out another $800 when HP has made a subpar product. They should stand behind their product and fix not require the consumer to pay  a cost of about 1/2 the purchase price to get it fixed. It is also frustrating that you cannot take to a person. The chatbots are no help. We are also required to ship and have him be without it for 10-45 while they fix it. What is he supposed to do for class?
