Already had my Spectre folio leather replaced once during the warranty period due to splitting. Now I am a month outside of the warranty period and the folio has started splitting again. What can be done??

I have had the exact same experience as the OP.
Purchased the Folio in Feb-2019. In Aug-2019, happily HP accepted responsibility for the leather splitting along the right and left corners. They did a perfect job replacing the leather cover. My hope was that they had realized they had a manufacturing defect and had improved the leather but now beginning in Feb-2020, the leather on the right side of the trackpad is splitting again.
This PC has only been in a laptop bag a few times over the last two years. It spends all it's time on a coffee table or my lap. The wear is solely from my wrist resting on the right corner area when using the trackpad. This is an obvious and, after searching these boards, a common manufacturing defect that HP really needs to take ownership of and solve for all owners (even if out of warranty). How can a few months of normal use cause this? One of their flagship laptops should not fall apart like this.
Has HP come up with another solution other than replacing the leather with the same defective stuff? It really needs some kind of more durable edge trimming to prevent this from happening again.
Other than this issue the Folio is perfect for me. It's light, silent, fast and versatile. It not only replaced an old Macbook but also an iPad.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
Have you decided to send it in for repair?
Did they indicate if anything has been improved so it doesn't happen again in a few months?
HP never reached out to me, maybe I need to start a new thread.
