HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-ch0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I have a HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-ch0xx with 16 gb of RAM. The Hardware diagnostic tells me that my laptop is capable of 32 GB of ram. After a bit of searching this upgrade seems to be compatible. https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-16GBx2-PC4-19200-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B019FRCV9G/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=...

I'm not too confident about doing it myself. Anyone know how hard it is or know if I can take it to an HP repair center or something similar?

I do a fair amount of laptop repair and I am sure I would have no problem with this but a couple sticky points for a first-timer include the need to remove and then replace the rubber strip on the bottom and then there is a kind of unique mylar (plastic) cover over the motherboard and memory slots that has to be removed. If in doubt I would say get some professional help.

In the USA at least HP Service Centers will not install 3rd party memory and they will officially tell you that 16 gigs is the maximum memory so they will have no HP Official Part to install to get you to 32 gigs. So you have to find a local regular computer shop to do this for you. The memory you ask about would work fine. The laptop can take 32 gigs but I will be devil's advocate here and suggest that most people do not need to do that upgrade. 16 gigs is a lot of memory and if you perceive your computer to be slow, something else is going on. You do not provide a specific model number just a series number so I can't say what processor you have but this model series only uses i7s and NVME M.2 SSDs so this should be a very fast machine.

The link does not give you all information you need. What is your machine actually. From manual of the series of 15-ch0xx machines, they support for 16384 MB of DDR4 2400 MHz system memory in the following configurations:

  • 16384 MB (8192MB × 2)
  • 12288 MB (8192MB + 4096MB)
  • 8192 MB (4096MB × 2)

For  example :  HP Spectre x360 - 15-ch011dx, its specs

      https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05927047

which only supports 16GB max

    https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/spectre-x360-15-ch011dx

Now, what is your xxaa ?

Regards.

Hi I cant seem to find my xxaa. In my about page and HP support page it just says HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-ch0xx although the link you posted does seem to match my computer.

Ok Thanks! btw the extra memory is bc I do lots of 3d modeling and digital art and the task manager shows my cpu jumping to 100% while working.

Did you ever get the memory and did it work?
