Can confirm successfull update from F25 to F32
Standard update from ***.exe failed.
Just create a bootable usb flash with latest bios
DO NOT BOOT from usb flash
Power off pc, put usb flash drive and run automated restore bios (win+b key and power. hold power for 5sec) --please google

Can confirm that it didn't work for me. Every attempt using ctrl-b has ended with the F32 bios specifically downloaded for the serial number of my tablet telling me that the bios is incompatible. Every bootload attempt has ended with an error. And every automated attempt has ended with fail.
Now, I keep the backlight on my keyboard turned on. And when I want to power down, I hold the power key until the backlight goes off. It's seven seconds of nuisance I'll just live with.

My HP Spectre x2 - 12 a004tu at F.04 firmware (2015 original) refused to upgrade using the automatic softpaq method.
However today I used the Windows-B method with a USB flash drive to successsfully upgrade to F.33 (2019). I'm happy to say that it now charges with a non HP charger though it still pops up a compatibility warning. It also allows the charger to charge through a expansion interface that has a PD compatible USB-C connector (with a compatibility warning). This has been my main gripe with this machine, so I'm rather happy to have this solved.
