Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I recently bought HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC (Product number 7K631AV). I have the latest version of Bios in my laptop (F.13 Rev.A Nov 11, 2024) and all drivers are up to date. In Bios, adaptive battery optimizer is enabled but there is no other option that I can set the maximum charge level. In HP support assistant, I ran battery check. It says battery is Ok and Battery Optimization Enabled but NOT Activated!!  It seems that HP forgot to include an option in BIOS to set the charging limit, and so the laptop fully charges (100%).

It is hard to believe that such an expensive product lacks this simple option which will indeed cause battery corruption quickly. Currently, I have to unplug power cable manually when battery level reaches 80% and plug it again when it falls below 30%. This is cumbersome and requires full attention and also increases charge/discharge cycle and shortens the life of battery, while my other laptop that worked for me seven years had this battery charging control in the taskbar.

I think either HP should upgrade the Bios of this product or provide a program that we can set the maximum charging level inside windows. Since the battery optimization is enabled, it means that the hardware is capable of of doing the job, but it needs a software to activate it.

The same problem was reported it this community seven months ago but Hp has not provided any solution to this problem:

Please resolve this issue by providing a patch.

Thanks

@Vahid9, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Spectre X360 14 2024 Battery Optimization

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your concern about battery health, and I appreciate you reaching out. The HP Spectre x360 uses smart charging technology, which automatically stops charging once the battery reaches 100%, so you don’t have to worry about overcharging. This is a built-in, passive feature that’s enabled from the factory.

Currently, there’s no option in the BIOS to manually set a charging limit. However, I recommend keeping your HP Support Assistant updated, as it will notify you of any new BIOS or driver updates that might improve battery management in the future.

Let me know if you need any help with checking for updates or optimizing your battery settings!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
