HP Spectre X360 2-in-1 15-DF1033DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Spectre X360 2-in-1 (Gemcut) 15-DF1033DX usually drains about 4% to 6% battery when completely shut down and left in the state for 2 days. Why is this? I did disable the HP Sleep & Charge functionality from the BIOS Advanced Options, yet no difference. There are no devices (USB) connected when shut down. Please help with this.

@muneeb822 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the HP Spectre X360 DF1033DX low battery drain when shut down completely.

I suggest you start with a hard reset: Click here for steps,

When done, you may want to check with an alternate power cord/adapter as it could be a malfunction that's causing this issue to occur, here's what you could do:

If the charger shows inconsistent power output values, I would suggest that you step into Best Buy or staples and try with a different adapter and that should isolate the issue to the adapter or the computer.

Please try a different battery on the unit as well.

Do not buy the battery and adapter. It is only for testing.

Use spare ones that they may have. If it works correctly, then you could think of buying it.

Meanwhile, also, try the below:

Steps to uninstall the ACPI drivers

Right-Click on start button> click device manager> Batteries>then select the s drivers and right-click on it and uninstall all battery drivers.

Then restart the computer and check again.

Its a brand new laptop. Secondly, its battery is sealed (you should have known), adapter does not have the issue. Tried resetting the drivers. Nothing!

I understand your concerns.

Have you tried to update the BIOS?

If not please update the BIOS.

Please perform the adapter and battery test.

1. Power off the PC and make sure that it is completely powered off.

2. Press the power button and the moment you press the power button immediately start tapping F2 key, you should see the system diagnostics screen.

3. Look for the component test, under that all the hardware will be listed, please choose the Adapter and battery and initiate the quick test.

Note: If it fails it will generate a 24 digits alphanumeric failure id, please capture that.

Please let us know the result.

Have a nice day!!

I did receive one BIOS update that helped with the Type C functionality, I'll still see if it worked and let you know. Thank you though

It still does the same. Checked it.
One question, do you think the Fast Startup affects it? I mean the battery

@muneeb822

I understand your concerns.

No, it will not.  Enable the fast startup will not drain the battery.

Please perform the system reset and check.

Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.

You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.

  • If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.

  • If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.

Have a nice day!!
