Hi,
I have HP Spectre X360 13-4116dx Touchscreen i7 2.59GHz 16GB Ram 512GB SSD. Looks like mother board got burned and I am looking for replacement.
please suggest if the system that I am pulling the motherboard from can have 16gb ram or can it be from 8gb system.
please suggest as to how to select the right mother board.
thanks for your help

See p. 18 of the Manual here:
Your specifications say your laptop has 16 gigs of RAM onboard which means soldered onto the motherboard. But the Service Manual which appears to cover your model only lists 4 and 8 gig motherboards. Very odd.
Any of the motherboards listed under the -4100 to -4199 section will fit in your chassis and work, assuming you have given the correct model number (see below). All models are touchscreen.
This is the motherboard closest to your system:
Equipped with an Intel Core i7-6500U 2.50-GHz (SC turbo up to 3.10-GHz) processor (1866- MHz FSB, 4.00-MB L3 cache, dual core, 15 W), 8.0-GB of system memory, and the Windows 10 or Windows 8 Professional operating system 828825-601
Again something odd in that this seems to say your laptop should have had Windows 10 Pro but the specs say it came with Windows 10 Home.
If I search the Parts Store under your Product number it does turn up a 16 gig board:
861993-601 This part is not yet available for purchase.
MOTHERBOARD UMA i7-6500U 16GB CR WIN
RoHS: COMPLY_1.00
This motherboard is not listed in the -4100 to -4199 Manual so this tells me you either have the model number wrong or somehow your model is actually covered in the -4200 to -4299 manual here:
This Manual includes 16 gig systems.
Again, any of the boards listed in this manual will fit but you have to pay attention to the OS. If you get a board that only supports non-Windows (FreeDos or Linux) you will have to purchase a new Windows license, too.
Your motherboard is available on eBay:
The price is high at first blush until you consider it includes an i7 processor and 16 gigs of RAM.
Post back with any more questions but please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Yes it definitely appears your model number is in the -4100 range but your motherboard is listed in the -4200 manual.
I linked you to a place (ebay) to buy a replacement for your exact motherboard. I believe, however, any of the motherboards from either manual will fit in your chassis and power up. So if you are willing to accept a 4 or 8 gig motherboard or a lesser processor to save some money that is a possibility.
