I agree 100% that SOMETHING needs to be done on a mass scale to fix this problem!
I am sorry I do not have any specs or info on repairing the problem.
I was fortunate enough to get it replaced out of warranty - I suggest starting a thread and keep your fingers crossed that a HP Employee notices and helps.
I love HP but I literally cringe any time a Spectre or X360 comes in the door for a repair. 😞

I am having the same problem with a spectre x360 15-BL012DX I bought for my wife. It won't turn on and it's just outside of the year warranty. HP wants $1000 for a new motherboard! How do I contact them? This is ridiculous to pay that much for a $1500 computer that is barely a year old.

Also have the same issue with the burnt out Cap! Mine was nicely hidden behind a sticker, which shows the signs of burning on the back.
HP Support, can we get these fixed outside of warranty, it is obviously a design or component quality issue. Alternatively is there a cheaper repair route considering there are a few of these now?
