Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone

Whenever I'm playing music, watching a video, doing anything that involves audio and have my AUX cable plugged in, the laptop randomly stops playing audio through the cable and instead plays it through the built in speakers. This usually lasts about a second. The interval can be from 1x per minute to 1x per 10 seconds. It changes. I know the cable is fine since it works perfectly with my other devices like a Samsung phone and an old HP Envy.

Any ideas for a solution or is it a hardware problem?

Thanks in advance and have a great weekend 🙂

@MS97

I don't think your machine has AUX port, its specs

     https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06185738

It only has

    2x USB Type-C™ Thunderbolt™ 3 (supports HP Sleep & Charge, DP1.4, PD 3.0, Data Transfer); 1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo

And the  headphone/microphone combo port won't act like an AUX port that why system will spend time to think what is going on here.

Regards.

Hi BH

Thanks for the reply. Thats strange. My old HP ENVY also has the headphone/microphone combo and it works fine with that.
