My issue appears to be the same as the issue brought up by "FrizJr" on 08/12/20 and answered by "Huffer" on 08/14/20.    I purchased an HP Spectre x 360-13-ae012dx back in 2018.   The Device ID is 19850AF9-B8AD-4027-A657-A5D43ED97E86.   The Product ID is 00325-96211-63621-AAOEM.      The laptop has worked great and continues to operate.    The problem started  sometime in late 2023, when the battery swelled up.   I purchased several after market batteries and installed them, but there was an issue with them charging in the laptop.  I put the original battery back in and it seemed to work, although the battery life was only less than an hour.    In the summer of 2024 the lack of charging continued to get worse and I hired a computer tech to replace the battery and trouble shoot it.    He installed an official HP labeled battery and it continued to operate while plugged in but it only defines the battery as plugged in, not charging.   Even though I leave the laptop plugged in all the time when turned on, the battery continues to go down in percentage remaining.    I have even swapped out the batteries when the installed ones get down to 20%, and one of the replacement batteries actually charged to 100%, but since that time is slowly draining capacity (now 86%) and showing only plugged in.   I have proceeded with replacing the laptop with a new one, but have had several setbacks associated with dissatisfaction with the newer versions of the Microsoft software, or getting the mail and calendars transferred  onto the replacement computers.    I am not a computer programming person, I just want to use and apply the tool to the work and activities that I do utilizing the laptop (emails, excel, documents, photos, etc), and for these the HP Spectre has been a great computer.    And the cost of loosing much of my mail, calendar history is to me a great loss.    Even though I have spent much money trying to replace the HP, I would like to explore the motherboard replacement/repair options that Huffer discussed back in 8/14/20.     Does HP hold any responsibility in making it right, for what clearly appears to be a HP design problem, repeated many times?    You mentioned either repairing the motherboards by replacing capacitors or replacing the motherboard entirely.     Can you provide further information on this, and a list of Computer Repair Facilities who would perform this work?    If known, any updates on pricing?     Do you know of any laptop owners who have done this and if so, their feedback or success rate?

The laptop has been a great laptop with no other issues, and it fully meets my needs.   With the concern with loosing the data stored on it, specifically the email history and calendar history, it may be worth it to have it function for a few more years!

That model is one of the ones I was talking about. Unfortunately yes. Many of that model series stop charging and weeks or months later stop working at all. There are high-tech shops that will rework the motherboard to replace the burned capacitors for like $150 US. A replacement motherboard costs several times that much and any kind of repair involves reworking or replacing the motherboard. Feared diagnosis can only be confirmed by disassembly and inspection for burned capacitors around the charging port.

Can you provide a link to my prior post? I am not sure I was referring to your specific model series.

In the meantime here is a link to at least one shop that reworks motherboards on many different models.

This vendor has almost 500 positive feedbacks and I believe all they do is these kind of motherboard repairs.

I do not know how to link the previous issue and your response.     I defined the date of the original posting by FrizJr on 8/12/2020 at 3:29 PM, and your response on 8/14/2020 at 8:02 AM.  At the end of my post, I copied and pasted your response.

My memory is that I was referring to the 13-4000 series which is a bit older than your laptop. I don't really have a good way to go back and search my 4+ year old posts. The link I gave you above is a valid option for motherboard repair if that is really what you need.
