I have also posted the same issue on the HP forum with my HP Spectre X2 Detachable. A few weeks ago the device started losing all its full charge overnight despite being 'Shut Down' from the screen button (ie. not hibernate or sleep). Charging restores the battery but it just discharges again quite quickly. I have followed the HP advice given to others who have posted with no result. I have conducted battery and ac charger health checks with both 'HP Assistant' and the more comprehensive downloaded 'HP PC Harware Diagnostics - Windows' functions but all report the battery as 'Passed' and well within the charge cycles out of the potential total for the battery life. So there appears to be no problem with the battery and the discharging may be being caused by another faulty hardware or software feature within the device.
From reading this post and others there seems to be a general problem going back beyond last year with this and other HP notebooks causing their batteries to be discharged even when fully powered down.

So I am the one who originally posted this issue here in this forum. Sad to say after months of trying I did not receive any satisfactory solutions from HP. I ended up selling my 2 HP Spectre x2 12 devices and going with 2 Acer Alpha Switch 12 devices and have never been happier. My uncle is still struggling with his HP Spectre x2 12 with the same battery drain issues. He also can not get his device to turn on sometimes even with a full charge. I am trying to get him to move on to something else as well. HP will not help you because if they admitt there is a fundimental issue with their hardware it could cost them a lot of money to replace the bad equiptment. As a Network administrator I am asked for my recommendation all the time for hardware and because of this terrible experience both with hardware and customer service I continue to recommend something other than HP. In fact I would recommend to everyone here to quickly dump your HP device with these battery issues and move on to something else. Stop wasting your time because HP will not help you.

Hey Fankieiam - Please post back to this thread and let me know if you are contacted with a working solution.
As you are aware, you are not the only one wth this issue. I purchased an X2 for my son last year that he uses for school. Needless to say, his X2 is exhibiting the same issue in just the past few weeks... discharging completley over night. Just as you have, we have been through ALL of the recommended batter testing/calibration solutions. Everything reports as good, and opperational battery time is normal. Nothing works to resolve the dischage while shutdown issue ... and unfortunaltey, he uses his HP for school which makes the situation untennable.
Thank you.

So I was experiencing this same issue (no problems before this update, battery was drained because wouldn't power down completely).
I got on the phone with HP technical support and they suggested to try updating the BIOS (which can be downloaded from their website).
I tried that and it seems to have solved this issue. You may give this a try,

Hey Everyone.
I hope to help everybody that is desperate with the battery drain problem (even more frustated with no solution coming from the HP support).
Solution: Update your BIOS
Download the file "HP Firmware Pack (Intel Processors)" (sp84425) using the following link:
P.S: Choose your Windows version before downloading (mine is Windows 10 - 64Bit).
Hope it helps.

Here is an update on my last post of 18.2.18. The HP Spectre X2 12 was still just within retail warranty so I registered a fault claim citing all the battery discharge data recording and references to similar cases on the HP Forum and elsewhere. The retailer duly organised for it to go to an accredited HP engineer to be looked at. It came back with a new battery despite no evidence there was anything wrong with the existing battery and I found that the battery discharge fault was still present exactly as before. I related all this back to the retailer who again organised collection for another engineer inspection. Finally this week (about 3 weeks later) the retailer called to say it was ‘beyond economic repair’ and today they have agreed to refund the original purchase price made in February 2016. So I think Frankieiam you are right, there is no fix and there is some motherboard or other hardware fault with these devices that is not being admitted to. I hope my retailer is holding the manufacturer’s feet to the fire over this.
I also flagged my original post about this on the following thread;
