HP Spectre x360 - 13-4104
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I own a HP Spectre x360 - 13-4104 from early 2016 and now my SSD has crashed. I will replace it and wonder which types are compatible?

The manual states PCIe / SATA m2 drives are supported.

Does this mean I can install a drive with "NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4" interface with a "3D TLC NAND" memory type or should I buy a SATA with TLC?

@Owner-x360

As you can read on the manual, it does NOT support dual storage, only M.2 SSD's. Now, the safest way to upgrade: Use Device Manager to see what does it have NOW and use SAME existing specs.

For example my machine

It is a TOSHIBA M.2 SSD. I know I can use other brand but to play safe I would buy Toshiba, same series with larger capacity to upgrade.

Hope this makes sense.

Sorry, maybe it is my lack of knowledge in this area. I do not intend to setup a dual storage config, only to replace the single SSD disk.

I thought maybe I could turn the unfortunate event of my SSD crashing to something positive by installing a faster drive. My questions is if PCIe Gen3/3D TLC NAND are supported or if I should buy a SATA/TLC disk?

Essentially either:

SATA https://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/a400-solid-state-drive#specifications

or

PCIe https://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/a2000-nvme-pcie-ssd

The original disk which has crashed is a Samsung mznte512hmjh-000h1
