I'd like to upgrade the RAM on above laptop (currently 16GB). I've seen a lot of stuff online suggesting that the quoted maximum is not really the maximum. If i run CMD "wmic memphysical get maxcapacity" it tells me 32GB is my max. If I look up my processor i7 87058G on intel website it says max is 64GB! (Motherboard is HM175 but Idon't know whether this influences maximum? )
One supplier (Compuram.biz) confidently claims my laptop can support 64GB, another supplier (Crucial.com) says 16GB is my limit. I'm inclined to believe the answer from the CMD query but I've no idea if I should, or if i should believe Intel?
So I'm leaning towards the 32GB option...but would go with 64GB if the intel answer is the one to believe
If I do this, should I upgrade BIOS first (mine's F36, latest if F39) or only if there's a problem after install?
Any advice would be very appreciated, thanks

I'd go with what Windows reports--32 GB.
I don't know of any HP notebook with an Intel 8th gen core processor that supports 2 x 32 GB of memory.
The crucial memory report and the service manual indicate the max memory is 2 x 8 GB:

Its specs https://media.flixcar.com/f360cdn/HP-3532724930-c05927911.pdf
It already has 16GB: 16 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB) . No, it won't support 64GB but 32GB is OK
Regards.

You're very welcome.
Most HP notebooks with the Intel 8th gen core processors will support 2 x 16 GB of memory despite what the HP service manuals normally indicate - 2 x 8 GB, and the report you ran confirms that to be the case.

If I were to install 2x 16GB DDR4 3200, as opposed to 2400 (out of stock) would that cause a problem or would it just operate at he lower speed as if I'd used 2400. Price is the same so I n terms of going for the same supplier I could just get 3200's?
Thanks
