I noticed my fan running high for extended periods of time, even when i wasn't using it. I could feel the heat coming from the right side of the laptop. Is this normal? Ive been running cpuid HWMonitor for about 20 minutes and since its been running the CPU hit 83 degrees celsius. Please help

The heat coming from the right side is normal, I believe the air is getting sucked in from the left vent and sucked out through the right vent and feeling the right side blow hot air is normal, even the vent may be a little warm. You can also feel the vent sucking in air from the right side.

But the high temperature seem a little worrying, have you ran all the updates and restarted the computer a couple of times? It also helps to charge the laptop then disconect it and restart it or turn it off and try again in a couple of hours once the laptop has been shut off (not just the lid closed, as it puts the computer to sleep unless you changed that function).

The HP drivers and software section will also have a couple of things that can help such as a thermal driver and the BIOS update, but again restart the computer or shut it off, wait and restart. Cycling the laptop helped me reducing the fan running high.

I went to the hp website and download all the drivers. I rebooted my PC with and without the the power connected. Then for the first time since I got it. I used it without the charger. I'm not sure if what I did helped or if it's a coincidence, nonetheless things seem to be running fine now.
