HP Spectre x360 - 15t-df000 CTO

I have been having trouble with the USB-C ports when using any Hub.  I have been using the Anker 565 USB-C Hub with my HP Spectre x360 15-df0xxx (2019) with ethernet connectivity issues, resulting in my network settings showing no ethernet connection.  Unplugging the ethernet cable from the hub, and the hub from the USB-C port (either one) and then reconnecting all seems to do the trick but it's random how long the connection lasts; sometimes a few minutes to several hours.  The HDMI works and the USB-A ports continue to work on the hub, it's just the ethernet that stops working.  I've followed all the recommended troubleshooting from Windows 11 and Anker (updated the ASIX firmware and Realtek just in case).  No changes.

HP Spectre are premium machines . I don't know why HP does not have a dock  for the Spectres. Anyway which ever docks on market today 99% of them won't compatible with HP Spectre machine. Don't waste your time and money to fix the machine you may break it.

I also tried to use a USB-C power brick through the USB-C (as it's listed to have PD), and the Spectre doesn't recognize the power brick and just gave me an error that the battery installed isn't a genuine battery...HP, come on...

Again, you have to use a RIGHT USB-C charger for the series (if available). Unfortunately the series ONLY has following adapters:

  • 135-W HP Smart AC adapter (PFC, RC, slim, 4.5-mm) Part # L15534-001
  • 90-W HP Smart AC adapter (PFC, RA, 4.5-mm) Part # 937532-850 for lower video specs machines.

No USB-C available AC adapter.

Thank you for your help. I don't get why HP advertised this laptop to have USB-C Thunderbolt 3 (PD) and then doesn't allow it to be used in the case of the USB-C power brick, and worse, intermittent with the ethernet cable.  The logic that I need to get a specific Hub or power brick from HP, which apparently doesn't exist, feels like a bait-and-switch and/or false advertising.  This seems like a software fix (correct me if I'm wrong here), so HP, why don't you fix it?

I did list 2 adapters for the series above, no USB-C charge. If by chance, you could get one elsewhere please post back to help others

Yes, I saw the two barrel power adapters, I purchased one as a backup.  My point is that HP advertised the USB-C ports as having PD and are Thunderbolt 3, yet, when looking at Anker, they say the hub is compatible - no limitations.  So my question stands, is this a software issue that HP won't address?  I understand if you don't have insight to this.

Sorry I don't know the Anker product therefore I can't comment more. All I know for sure is at this stage HP does not have dock(s) which is/are compatible with HP Spectre machines. HP used to list compatible docks/machines on the following document but HP removed the list.

I still have the older copy but NONE of them is for Spectre.
